Ivy's Birth- Sarah's Story

(This is a letter written to me by Sarah, link to the story is below)

Patricia,

I just saw your post on the unassisted board and thought I'd send you the link to my daughter ivy's birth story.  If you would like to use it, great.  If not, no problem.  It is not a vaginal breech, but a planned uc where we transferred due to maternal exhaustion, pain, leaking heavy mec and long labor (after a 7 hour first birth).  It might be of some interest to you as the doc (I did all my own prenatal care and position was not of major concern to me and I was convinced she was head down) was willing to do a vaginal breech since I'd already birthed an almost 9 lber.  At any rate, I thought I'd send the link to the story and I'd be happy to add more to the experience.  Once I got to the hospital, as I was waiting for the u/s, I decided that if my dd was breech that I'd request a c/s.  At first I thought it was because of the pain and a feeling that she wouldn't come, but after much thought, I am convinced that my intuition led me to choose the safest entrance for my dd which in my opinion for my situation was a c/s.  I am a committed unassisted birther despite my transfer and I strongly feel that it is even more important for "problem" births to be uninterfered with.  In a hospital, they are not generally trained in the art of breech birth and I am convinced that I would have had a surgical vaginal delivery had I not had the c/s.  I also strongly believe that while vaginal birth (and unassisted birth) is ideal for almost every situation, a vaginal birth with untrained, fearful attendants and a breech baby is a very dangerous combination.  At any rate, please let me know if you need any further information.  I understand that you want breech vaginal stories, so if you are not interested in using my information, I completely understand.  I would also love to have the url of your site when you are finished as I'm newly pregnant and may have a breech again.  Good job with what you're doing.  I looked really hard for good breech info after my dd was born and what's out there is awful!
